Cookie Policy

Version 1.0 | Effective: April 1, 2026

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, improve user experience, and provide information to website operators. Cookies set by the website operator are called "first-party cookies"; cookies set by parties other than the website operator are called "third-party cookies".

In addition to cookies, we may use similar tracking technologies including:

  • Web beacons / pixel tags: Tiny transparent images embedded in web pages or emails that signal when a page has been viewed or an email opened
  • Local storage & session storage: Browser-based storage mechanisms used for portal functionality and session state
  • Fingerprinting (device/browser): Technical characteristics of your browser or device used for security and fraud prevention purposes only — not for tracking or advertising
  • Software development kit (SDK) tags: Code snippets embedded from third-party analytics or marketing platforms

2. Why We Use Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies on our Portals for the following core purposes:

  • To ensure our portals function correctly
  • To remember your preferences and settings
  • To measure and improve portal performance
  • To deliver relevant marketing content (with your consent)

3. Categories of Cookies We Use

We classify cookies into the following categories, aligned with the IAB Europe Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) and the ICC UK Cookie Guide:

3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for our Portals to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions you take such as logging in, filling in forms, or setting your privacy preferences. They do not store any personally identifiable information.

Legal basis: No consent required — processing is necessary for the legitimate interest of providing a functioning portal (ePrivacy Directive Art. 5(3) exemption; UK PECR Reg. 6(4))

Applies to: Both atomquark.ai and atomquark.com

3.2 Functional / Preference Cookies

These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalisation on our Portals. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we use. If you do not allow these cookies, some or all of these features may not function properly.

Legal basis: Consent (EU/UK); Legitimate interest with opt-out (India DPDP Act)

Applies to: Both portals — language, region, display, and AI model preference settings

3.3 Performance / Analytics Cookies

These cookies allow us to count visits and measure traffic sources so we can improve portal performance. All information collected is aggregated and anonymised. If you decline these cookies, we will not know when you have visited and will not be able to monitor performance.

Legal basis: Consent (EU/UK/California); Legitimate interest with opt-out (India, Singapore)

Applies to: Both portals

3.4 Marketing / Targeting Cookies

These cookies may be set through our Portals by our advertising partners. They may be used to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertisements on other sites. They do not directly store personal data but uniquely identify your browser and internet device. We use marketing cookies only where you have provided explicit consent.

Legal basis: Explicit opt-in consent required for all jurisdictions

Applies to: Both portals — opt-in only via Cookie Preference Centre

3.5 AI Session Cookies (atomquark.ai specific)

The atomquark.ai portal uses session-scoped cookies and local storage to support its AI-powered features, including:

  • Maintaining AI conversation context within a browser session (session cookies — deleted when browser is closed)
  • Storing preferred AI model selection and inference parameters between visits (persistent functional cookies)
  • Tracking API rate-limit state and query count per session for fair-use enforcement

These cookies do not contain your AI query content. Query content is handled server-side and governed by our Privacy Policy. AI session cookies are strictly necessary for portal functionality and do not require separate consent.

4. Cookie Inventory — Detailed Register

The tables listing the specific cookies currently in use across our Portals are reviewed and updated quarterly. Last updated: April 1, 2026.

5. Third-Party Cookies and Services

Some cookies on our Portals are placed by third-party services that appear on our pages. We do not control these third-party cookies and they are governed by the privacy policies of the respective third parties.

We periodically audit our third-party cookie usage and update this Policy accordingly. Where a third-party service is activated only with your consent, it will not set cookies until you have opted in via our Cookie Preference Centre.

6. Cookie Consent and Your Preferences

6.1 How We Obtain Consent

On your first visit to either Portal, a Cookie Consent Banner is displayed informing you of the categories of cookies in use. Strictly Necessary cookies are activated automatically. All other cookie categories require your affirmative action (opt-in). Your preferences are recorded in a consent cookie (aq_consent / aqc_consent) and respected for 12 months, after which we will ask you again.

6.2 Cookie Preference Centre

You can review and update your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of either Portal. The Cookie Preference Centre allows you to:

  • View all cookie categories and the specific cookies within each category
  • Toggle consent for Functional, Analytics, and Marketing cookie categories independently
  • Withdraw previously given consent with immediate effect (prospectively)
  • Download a record of your current cookie preferences

6.3 Browser-Level Cookie Controls

You may also manage cookies directly through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View and delete existing cookies stored on your device
  • Block cookies from specific domains or all third parties
  • Configure your browser to alert you when a cookie is being set
  • Enable private/incognito browsing mode, which prevents persistent cookies from being stored

Please note that disabling strictly necessary cookies via browser settings may impair or prevent your use of portal features.

6.4 Opt-Out Tools for Analytics and Advertising

  • Google Analytics Opt-Out: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
  • Google Ads Personalisation: Manage at adssettings.google.com
  • LinkedIn Ad Preferences: Manage at linkedin.com/psettings/guest-controls
  • Your Online Choices (EU): youronlinechoices.eu
  • Digital Advertising Alliance (US): optout.aboutads.info
  • Network Advertising Initiative (US): optout.networkadvertising.org

7. Jurisdiction-Specific Cookie Requirements

Our cookie practices are designed to comply with applicable law in all jurisdictions from which our Portals are accessed.

7.1 Global Privacy Control (GPC)

We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or browser extension sends a GPC signal indicating that you do not wish your personal information to be sold or shared, we will treat this as a valid opt-out from marketing cookies and data sharing for advertising purposes, in compliance with CCPA/CPRA and similar regulations.

8. Cookie Duration and Retention

Cookies we set are retained for only as long as necessary for their stated purpose. The two main types are:

  • Session cookies: Deleted when you close your browser
  • Persistent cookies: Remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them

Where a third-party sets cookies through our Portals, the retention period is governed by that third party's policy.

9. Do Not Track (DNT) Signals

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you do not wish to be tracked. There is currently no universally accepted standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. At this time, our Portals do not alter their data collection and use practices in response to DNT signals from browsers. However, we do honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as described in Section 7.1, which provides a more standardised and legally recognised opt-out mechanism.

10. Updates to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy at any time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, regulatory requirements, or our practices. The updated Policy will be posted on both Portals with a revised effective date. Where changes are material — such as the addition of new third-party marketing cookies — we will re-present the consent banner to all users to obtain fresh consent.

We recommend reviewing this Policy periodically. You can always access the most current version via the footer link on atomquark.ai and atomquark.com.
